A Arte Postal continua a dar cartas para além das artes institucionais, constituindo alternativa palpável e popular ao sistema hierárquico dos museus, galerias, editoras e outros palcos convencionais, permitindo-se ainda a participação democrática a partir da escrita de uma carta ou respondendo a qualquer outra proposta de criação e apresentação por via postal. Originário da ancestralidade, o movimento global desenvolveu-se a partir do Dadaísmo e do Fluxus americano dos anos 60: parente da arte pobre, rompendo fronteiras entre arte e vida, teve o seu apogeu nos anos 80 e 90 do séc. XX e contribuiu para derrubar ditaduras fascistas na América Latina e na Europa de Leste, oferecendo sempre quer a capacidade de intercâmbio de pensamento crítico, quer o combate a qualquer elitismo associado ao mercado, partindo do princípio simples de que artista é tão somente o que faz arte.
Porque o tempo presente reclama uma rede eterna, radical e activa, à margem dos poderes, da publicidade e da homogeneidade dos temas da cultura subsidiada, alegramo-nos com a nossa primeira chamada internacional de arte postal contra a repressão e o isolamento, apelando à livre reinterpretação, sem limites de género, idade ou nacionalidade, de uma obra universal do séc. XIX, que explora os limites da imaginação de odisseias não só científicas, como pessoais.

Mail art continues to move beyond institutional art, providing a tangible and grass-roots alternative to the hierarchical system of museums, galleries, publishers and other conventional stages, while still allowing democratic participation by writing a letter or replying to any other proposal for creating and presenting by postal mail. Originating from ancient times, the global movement developed from Dadaism and the American Fluxus of the 1960s: A relative of poor art, pushing boundaries between art and life, it reached its apogee in the 1980s and 1990s. It contributed to overthrowing fascist dictatorships in Latin America and Eastern Europe, always offering both the ability to exchange critical thinking and the fight against any elitism associated with the market, based on the simple principle that an artist is simply someone who makes art.
As the present time calls for an eternal network, radical and active, far from the powers, the advertisement and the homogeneity of the themes of subsidised culture, we rejoice in our first international open call for postal art against repression and isolation, calling for the free reinterpretation, without limits of gender, age or nationality, of a universal nineteenth century masterpiece that explores the limits of imagination in odysseys that are not only scientific but also personal.

Die Mail Art bewegt sich weiterhin jenseits der institutionellen Kunst und bietet eine greifbare und volksnahe Alternative zum hierarchischen System von Museen, Galerien, Verlagen und anderen konventionellen Bühnen, während sie gleichzeitig eine demokratische Beteiligung durch das Schreiben eines Briefes oder die Beantwortung eines anderen Vorschlags für die Gestaltung und Darstellung per Post ermöglicht. Die globale Bewegung, die sich aus dem Dadaismus und dem amerikanischen Fluxus der 1960er Jahre entwickelt hat, ist ein Verwandter der armen Kunst, der die Grenzen zwischen Kunst und Leben aufhebt. Sie erreichte ihren Höhepunkt in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren und half mit, faschistische Diktaturen in Lateinamerika und Osteuropa zu stürzen, wobei sie stets sowohl die Fähigkeit zum Austausch kritischen Denkens als auch den Kampf gegen jeglichen mit dem Markt verbundenen Elitismus bot, basierend auf dem einfachen Grundsatz, dass ein Künstler nur derjenige ist, der Kunst macht.
Da die heutige Zeit ein radikales und aktives, ewiges Netzwerk abseits der Mächte, der Werbung und der Homogenität der Themen der subventionierten Kultur erfordert, freuen wir uns auf unseren ersten internationalen Aufruf für Postkunst gegen Unterdrückung und Isolation, der zur freien Neugestaltung eines universellen Werks aus dem 19. Jahrhundert aufruft, das die Grenzen der Vorstellungskraft in Odysseen erkundet, die nicht nur wissenschaftlich, sondern auch persönlich sind, ohne Grenzen von Geschlecht, Alter oder Nationalität.
